Bev Windjack is the Founding Principal of LADR Landscape Architects and a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects. With over 40 years of professional experience, she has built a career dedicated to the belief that landscape architects have an essential role in creating resilient, healthy, and meaningful environments. Her practice is grounded in the integration of ecological principles, cultural understanding, and community needs, ensuring that landscapes not only respond to environmental challenges but also enrich the lives of the people who inhabit them.

Bev holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Manitoba. She began her career in Bermuda, where she established the first landscape architecture department on the island, before moving to Victoria in 1990. In 1994 she founded LADR Landscape Architects and led the firm as sole principal for nearly three decades, shaping its reputation for design excellence and mentorship. In 2021 she welcomed her son Chris Windjack as a second principal, allowing her to focus on research and outreach.

Throughout her career, Bev has been deeply committed to addressing climate change and its disproportionate impact on vulnerable communities. Her work explores how landscape architecture can mitigate risks, foster resilience, and contribute to public health in the face of shifting environmental conditions. She has served on numerous local, provincial, and national committees, including the CSLA Committee on Climate Adaptation (2013-2022), the BC Professionals Association Adaptation Working Group (2013-2022), the University of Victoria’s Restoration Advisory Committee (2015-2021), and the Resilient Saanich Technical Committee (2020-2023), and co-authored a chapter in the Resilience Pathways Report published by Natural Resources Canada in 2022.

Inducted into the CSLA College of Fellows in 2025, Bev continues to inspire with her commitment to ecological integrity, social equity, and the transformative potential of landscape architecture to address the most pressing challenges of our time.
